Rough Stuff
Just getting back into the swing of things. And I managed to crank out a neat little rough animation too. :)

Adv. Facial Animation – Portraits and Blockheads
My last animation class in college (!!!) is a focus on realistic facial rigging and animation, taught by Chris Landreth (google him, he's a master). I have almost zero experience with humans in Maya, so... it's time. Assignment one was self-portraits. Drawing I, we meet again. And thank god I've improved since then.
We also had to draw still images of a 'blockhead' model from Maya, which breaks down the facial planes into simpler forms. It's bound to get harder from here, but I honestly want to learn a bunch from this class. Expect to see a lot of awkward lip movements and freaky wireframe tests on this blog in the near future. Let's go!

Project 3 Sketches
So whenever I don't know what to draw or animate, or if I want to get better at animating one particular thing... apparently I draw birds. All sorts of birds. Like the swan animation I did, and the blue jay... I don't know why. Some people draw wolves, some draw cats. I draw birds. And bunnies. But for the sake of artsy-fartsy-ness, we'll keep it to birds.
I had no idea what I wanted to do on this next animation, so true to form, I started out animating birds. And they were just birds. Good job, Claire, you can animate birds. Whoop de doo. We all knew this already.
And then I went a little crazy.
*cracks knuckles* LET'S DO THIS THING

Thesis Anatomy Sketches 1
Next thesis project is going to be a forced attempt to get better at anatomy. Will I succeed?? ...Who knows, but here, have some skeletons. This is gonna be a very Halloween-y project.
